About The Experience
The event "A Peaceful Evening on the Daugava Embankment," dedicated to Lāčplēsis Day, offers a musical journey from twilight contemplation to patriotic choral music, honoring Latvia's freedom. The program features kokle player and singer Lauma Matule with guitarist Ivars Štubis, presenting their concert program "Twilight," which showcases a rare interplay between kokle and electric guitar. The second part includes the Emīls Dārziņš Mixed Choir performing works by prominent Latvian composers such as Uldis Stabulnieks, Raimonds Tiguls, and Emīls Dārziņš. The evening concludes with the Rīga Chamber Choir "Ave Sol," led by conductor Andris Veismanis, performing Mārtiņš Brauns' song cycle "Daugava" and Lolita Ritmanis' music from the film "Blizzard of Souls," accompanied by soloists and instrumentalists. Actor Egils Melbārdis will host the event, and admission is free of charge.
