The Museum “Riga Art Nouveau Centre” invites attendees to a lecture by Professor Ojārs Spārītis titled “The Value of Art in the Antiques Market and Museum Risks in Postcolonial Discourse”. Continuing the museum's lecture series, this in-person event offers insight into the art market's behind-the-scenes, tracing the journey of cultural values from ethical collecting to illegal acquisition and loss. Special attention will be given to Latvia's experience, considering how its historical upheavals and geographical location have significantly impacted the preservation of cultural heritage. The lecturer, art historian and head of the Latvian Academy of Art's doctoral program, Prof., Dr. habil. art. Ojārs Spārītis, will share his expertise from the perspective of cultural heritage protection. Participation in the event requires a fee.
