A commemorative event for Lāčplēsis Day will take place in Valka, honoring those who fought for Latvia's freedom and independence. The event will begin with a service at the Evangelical Lutheran church, followed by a gathering for a torchlight procession. The torchlight procession will proceed through the city streets, including a stop at Kārlis Ulmanis' monument, concluding at the Brothers' Cemetery. A moment of remembrance will be held at the Brothers' Cemetery to honor the fallen North Vidzeme soldiers who died in Latvia's liberation battles. Residents and city guests are invited to participate and bring their own torches.
