The Third Latvian/Japanese Miniprint Exhibition is opening in Liepāja, offering a unique opportunity to explore contemporary graphic art from both countries. The exhibition features 38 artists—16 from Latvia and 22 from Japan—including professionals, professors, and emerging talents. Works by Japanese artists reflect refined craftsmanship, technological explorations, nature and seasonal motifs, geometric abstraction, and the characteristic Japanese visual culture's attention to emptiness, asymmetry, restrained expression, and material discipline. Latvian artists' works, in contrast, highlight an experimental approach to the graphic medium, pushing technical boundaries, utilizing unusual materials, and addressing contemporary issues through both traditional and new forms of expression.
