Edgars Mucenieks' solo exhibition "Obsession" explores three of the artist's life obsessions: mountains, encountering a fateful woman, and nudity. These themes intertwine in personal stories, memories, and artworks, revealing experiences and individuals who have shaped the artist's creative journey. The exhibition features works inspired by his teachers and paintings on the theme of mountains, which gained renewed relevance after the tragic Latvian alpinist expedition in Alaska this year. A central video piece continues a 20-year-old story of encounters and non-encounters, created with Liena Muceniece and Viesturs Graždanovičs. The "nude" section displays recent drawings and paintings of swimmers, sunbathers, book readers, and other happy people enjoying moments by and in the water. The artist suggests that without obsession, life's colors are often pale.
