The exhibition "The Story of Two Collections" showcases the history of two significant private collections from the Latvian diaspora: the Klāvs Sīpoliņš Fund, established in Canada by Leopolds Sīpoliņš, and the Douglas Collection, created in the USA by Teofils Cirķelis. This marks the first time the World Latvian Art Center has organized an exhibition dedicated to the role of private collectors within the diaspora, highlighting these two prominent Latvian diaspora art collections. Both collectors were active in their exile communities, fostering lasting relationships with Latvian artists and acquiring works from various countries. The exhibition emphasizes the unique bond between collector and artist, presenting artworks selected by two families based on their personal taste, thereby supporting their communities and preserving this artistic heritage.
