A commemorative event and torchlight procession titled “Let’s light a flame for those who defended Latvia” will take place in Pārdaugava, dedicated to the 107th anniversary of the Battle of Vīķu krogs during the Latvian War of Independence. Residents are invited to participate in a procession along the historic battle trail and collectively honor Latvia's freedom fighters. The Battle of Vīķu krogs on November 3, 1919, was a significant turning point, helping to break the Bermont-Avalov forces' front in Pārdaugava and paving the way for the liberation of Riga. Soldiers of the National Armed Forces, National Guard members, youth guards, students, local residents, and anyone wishing to honor Latvia's freedom fighters are invited to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring torches, candles, and red-white-red flowers.
