The Ikšķile Culture Association, in collaboration with photo and video artists Jurģis Kreilis and Ieva Kaņepe, presents the premiere of the documentary short film "About Sleds, Turns, and Life". The film tells the story of Ikšķile native Dainis Bremze, the 1978 World Champion in luge doubles with Aigars Kriķis, a participant in the XII and XIII Winter Olympic Games, a three-time USSR champion, and former president of the Latvian Luge Federation. It is a sincere account of the energy of young men, the joy of movement, and their passion for various sports that evolved into a professional luge career. The film also highlights parental support and the enthusiasm involved in building training tracks in Ikšķile. It delves into the beginnings of Latvian luge, the opportunities and challenges faced by athletes and coaches, and their enthusiasm, courage, and perseverance.
