The music theatre performance "Alfas" by Dirty Deal Teatro, directed by Valters Sīlis with a libretto by Jānis Balodis and music by Edgars Raginskis, is inspired by the 2011 Jēkabpils incident where an armed robbery and subsequent shootout resulted in the death of a police officer. The play reflects on society's understanding of "decisiveness," "strength," "masculinity," and "heroism," as well as the role of men in society. It explores how human characters, overconfidence, carelessness, and the country's situation converged to cause a tragedy. The performance includes gunshots and expletives.
