About The Experience
Ogre will commemorate Lāčplēša Day by honoring Latvian freedom fighters, remembering those who contributed to the country's freedom and independence. The event includes a torchlight procession, a solemn commemorative moment, and talks by Gunārs Rusiņš, a historian from the Ogre History and Art Museum, about the significance of Lāčplēša Day. After dark, a short film about the creators of Latvia's independence will be screened on the municipal council building and in the City Square. The city will be adorned with national flags, bonfires will be lit, and bridges over the Ogre River will be illuminated in red, white, and red. Participants in the procession are encouraged to bring their own torches, and drivers should be aware of planned traffic restrictions along the procession route.
