About The Experience

An event will take place with author and translator Signe Viška, who will share her experiences in translating children's and young adult literature from German. She will discuss the unique aspects, challenges, and joys of this work, offering insights into the nuances of the German language. Signe Viška has translated over ten books and is the author of the picture book "Kate, who wanted to become a grandfather," which has been translated into nine languages. The discussion will explore how texts transform when moving between languages and the extent of a translator's creative freedom.
