The exhibition "Atskats" (Retrospect) by Daugavpils artist Leonīds Baulins features his works created in the 1980s and 1990s, utilizing oil and other artistic techniques. The exhibition's title symbolically reflects a look back at a significant period in the artist's creative career. Leonīds Baulins (1945-2002) was a patriot of Latvia and Latgale, depicting Latvian nature landscapes, small-town atmospheres, and everyday life moments in his paintings. Latgale and Daugavpils held a special place in his art. The artist studied at the Gorky Art School and the Latvian Academy of Art, where his teachers included Kārlis Ubāns, Boriss Bērziņš, and Georgs Zemgals. He drew inspiration from renowned artists such as André Derain, Hans Falk, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee. The exhibition presents only a small portion of his extensive creative legacy.
