An exhibition of large-format works by Viktors Petaško, titled “Mana josta šādi austa” (My Belt Woven This Way), is on display at the Latgale Central Library's Čiekuri Library. The exhibition reinterprets traditional Latvian belt patterns and symbols into unique large-format decorative compositions, utilizing foam plastic as an unconventional material. Each artwork, measuring 140 × 50 centimeters, is meticulously crafted from hundreds of small details cut with a hot wire and assembled like a mosaic to form intricate patterns. The artist drew inspiration from the Austras koks (Tree of Austra), a significant Latvian mythological symbol representing world order and the continuity of life.
