Valmiera municipality hosts a series of sports activities throughout November to celebrate Latvia's 108th anniversary of independence. The traditional Latvia contour run invites active lifestyle enthusiasts to participate, offering two running groups with different paces or a walking option, which will be led by Valmiera municipality council chairman Jānis Baiks. On November 17th, a joint training run along the Latvia contour route will take place in the dark, requiring participants to bring a flashlight or other light source. For those unable to join the main event, the route can be completed individually at a convenient time. Everyone is also invited to participate in a festive quiz about Valmiera and Latvia. Participants are asked to ensure their safety, observe traffic regulations, and are encouraged to wear red-white-red attributes suitable for the national holiday.
