Edgars Mucenieks' solo exhibition "Obsession" explores three of the artist's life obsessions: mountains, encounters with a fateful woman, and nudity. Through personal stories, memories, and artworks, the exhibition reflects on the experiences and people who have shaped the artist's creative journey. The theme of mountains is highlighted by this year's tragic Latvian alpinist expedition in Alaska, prompting the artist to revisit his mountain memories. A central video work in the exhibition, created with L. Muceniece and V. Graždanovičs, continues a 20-year-old story of encounters and non-encounters. The "nude" section features recent drawings and paintings of swimmers and other happy people by the water. The artist notes that without "obsession," life's colors are often pale.
