The Operetta Theatre's new production "Parisian Bohemia" is a bold, visually stunning stage event inspired by Emmerich Kálmán's operetta "The Violet of Montmartre." Directed by Sonora Vaice, this interpretation transforms a classic operetta into contemporary musical theatre, dance, and high fashion aesthetics. The performance transports audiences to Montmartre, a world of artists, dreamers, and lovers, where bohemian freedom fuels passions, seduction, jealousy, ambition, and a yearning for success. The human world intertwines with a mysterious insect kingdom, revealing characters' natures and instincts through the fragility of a butterfly, the allure of a dragonfly, and the armor of a beetle. Costume designer Elīna Milta-Niedrāja's creations translate natural forms into sophisticated stage fashion, where costumes become an extension of the characters.
