Edgars Mucenieks' solo exhibition "Obsession" explores three of the artist's life obsessions: mountains, encounters with a fateful woman, and nudity. Through personal stories, memories, and artworks, the exhibition reveals experiences and people who have shaped the artist's creative journey. The theme of mountains is highlighted by a recent Latvian alpinist expedition in Alaska, prompting the artist to revisit his mountain memories. A central video work continues a 20-year-old narrative of encounters and non-encounters, created with L. Muceniece and V. Graždanovičs. The "nude" section features recent drawings and paintings of swimmers and other joyful people by the water. The artist notes that without "obsession," life's colors are often pale.
