The Valmiera Region Manor Network is hosting a seminar titled "An Insight into 17th–20th Century Vidzeme Manor History Sources: Examples of Vidzeme Tavern Research." Led by historian Valters Grīviņš, the seminar will provide an insight into historical sources of Vidzeme manors, with a particular focus on research examples of historical taverns along the Valmiera–Valka section of the Valmiera–Riga highway. The seminar will examine significant historical source collections from the first half of the 17th–20th centuries, such as plough revisions, soul revisions, manor documents, farm books, maps and plans, and manor division cases. Their accessibility, content, and potential use in researching the history of manors and their economic units will be discussed. Valters Grīviņš is also the editor of Historia.lv, a platform for free access to Latvian historical materials and local history.
