Residents and guests of Ventspils are invited to jointly commemorate Lāčplēša Day, honoring the courage and memory of Latvia's freedom fighters. The event will feature activities prepared by the National Guard, Youth Guard, and State Border Guard, as well as a concert by the group “Bekars”. Later in the evening, there will be a torchlight procession “River of Light” from the main square to the White Cross in Meža kapi, where a commemorative moment will take place. The Lāčplēša Day evening will conclude in Reņķa dārzs with the folklore group “Laipa” creating a fire symbol – Auseklis – symbolically uniting light, remembrance, and a sense of community.
